‍Back to School supplies for the

Kids of the Aliveness Project

MCC Illiana is once again getting the children of the Aliveness Project ready to start of the 23-24 school year geared for success with book bags filled with school supplies. These children are a part of the Aliveness Project NWI that provides social services to people living with HIV throughout Northwest Indiana. Names and a list of suggested supplies can be chosen off the board at the front of the sanctuary. Book bags need to be brought to church by Sunday, August 13th. MCC Illiana will be providing for these children the opportunity to start this school year off to a great start with the simple necessities of school supplies.

Monthly Potluck – Sunday, July 30th at noon

Our next end of the month potluck lunch will be this Sunday, July 30th following our Sunday morning worship. You are invited to bring a dish to share for our hospitality time as we gather around the table for fellowship as a community of faith. After our potluck will be a memorial service for a wonderful friend of our church, Robin, around 1:30pm.

Memorial Service this Sunday, July 30th, 1:30pm

Robin Lynn Helfrich of Michigan City died on July 11, 2023. Born in Connecticut to the late Harry Helfrich and Dorothy Spence Helfrich on September 24, 1965, she was the youngest of three children, a brother Harry Jr and a sister Dale, both estranged. Robin had suffered with health issues for many years. She is survived by her longtime friend Cheryl O’Lay and a cat named Coco. A memorial service will be held at Metropolitan Community Church Illiana, 5579 Clem Road, Portage, IN 46368 on Sunday, July 30th at 1:30pm. The service will be preceded by a luncheon at noon. Memorial donations in Robin’s honor can be made to the church’s Rev. Angie Thinness Benevolence Fund which provides assistance for those in need.

Thursday Night Zoom Virtual Bible Study, 7pm 

Note there will not be a Bible Study on Thursday, August 3rd.

Our Small Group Bible Study gathers on Thursday nights for a time of fellowship and scriptures. Rev. Michael leads the hour together from the comfort of your computer with this online ZOOM connection.

Family Game Night and Dinner

Friday, August 18th, 6:30pm

Join us for an evening of games and food at our Gayme Night coming up on Friday, August 18th starting at 6:30pm. This is a family-friendly event with board games, card games and a lot of fun.  There will be a simple meal provided, $5 suggested donation for the food.
